What is Quora? In simple words, this is the largest Q&A site. Users from all over the world flock here to find a quick solution to their problem or to satisfy interest and curiosity.

With Quora, we can not only drive more traffic, but we can also promote a personal brand, trademark, or ourselves as an expert. A wide variety of areas of interest rotate here: from IT to marketing, love advice, cooking or politics. This is because literally any question can be asked.

Quora can be used like:

  • Traffic source;
  • Source of popular topics that you can expand / explain or discuss;
  • A source to follow successful people in your industry;
  • A source where SEO works 100%;
  • The source that gives you access to target audiences through emails.

Why use Quora to generate traffic?

1. Free traffic. When answering questions, users can leave links to various sites in their answers. It is not prohibited. High-quality, relevant responses often get a lot of free traffic.

2. Traffic from the first day. Like any other platform, Quora allows you to create ad campaigns. One option is to create an ad campaign to showcase your brand to users who ask questions about relevant topics.

With Quora, you can find the perfect target audience for your content. This brings us to the next point.

3. Targeted promotion of content. Want to promote your content to marketing managers or other bloggers? What about teachers, lawyers, doctors, or housewives? Here you can purposefully promote content at your own discretion. The trick is to use this tool:

This will give you the full history of the post, including when it was published and most importantly, who asked the question:

Fortunately, the lion’s share of users here consider it necessary to include full information about their profession in their profile, which allows them to receive targeted leads from Quora.

4. Promotion of another type of content. Quora not only allows you to give plain text responses, you can also include videos, images, social media markers, quotes, and custom links to your content. You know what that means, right?

5. Building your own reputable brand. In the blogging industry, authoritative experts get a lot of traffic.

Of course, this will not happen overnight. But if the quality of the information you provide is consistent, then the Quora community will quickly pay attention to your blog.

6. Others’ publications. If you like guest blogs or interviews with top publications, Quora can help you with that. If you’ve noticed, reputable marketers, agencies, fellow bloggers, and even big business executives use Quora as their marketing channel.

Demonstrating and sharing your knowledge through vibrant publications is one way to get their attention. You can also interact with them by leaving comments on their responses. Or take an example from them.

7. An endless stream of ideas for content. As a blogger, you should know how difficult it is to regularly offer fresh ideas to target audiences. Quora will help you solve this problem and share an endless array of ideas and ways to implement them. For each post, there is a network of related questions that you can use in your next post.

Using the search bar, entering keywords will also help you generate a couple of new ideas in one click. While most of the suggestions will naturally need some work, we think it shouldn’t be difficult for you to compile everything and find useful headers.

Quora traffic: step by step guide

Step 1. Choose beneficial interests. After creating your account, Quora will ask you to specify a topic of interest to which your channel will be added. This will make it easier for you to find the necessary questions to answer, so be sure to pick anything that fits your niche. You need to select at least 10 topics before you can complete your registration.

Step 2. Start with a profile. As with social media advertising, you need a memorable author bio to create an aura of expertise and trust on Quora. Be sure to add a profile photo, fill in the “about yourself …” field, etc.

You can simply list your work experience, what you do or have done, and possibly a couple of your interesting hobbies. You can also list sites that you have worked on that are related to your work. It will be useful to indicate events where, for example, you were a speaker, took part or provide a link to a video with your participation. Your profile should contain links to social networks.

In the design of your profile, start from the fact that every time other Quora users visit your page, they will ask the same question: “who is this person and why should I trust him?” Your Quora profile shouldn’t give users any doubts. Remember, there are no business pages on this platform — not even for well-known brands. Rather, companies are viewed as topics that users can follow and discuss.

If your brand hasn’t registered as a Quora theme yet, you can do it yourself by scrolling down the page and clicking Create Topic.

Step 3. Create a theme for your brand. After you create a topic, you can find it in the search suggestions. Click on it to read the description.

Unlike a profile, you cannot add your brand description yourself. But you can add an official photo, change the name, manage “nicknames” and merge it with existing themes.

To manage your theme’s aliases, click the three-dot settings button, select Manage, and click Add Alias.

Aliases help users find your topic using the common spelling mistakes, acronyms, and alternate spellings they use.

Step 4. Conduct content research. Once your profile and brand theme are defined, it’s time to get started. Quora is a great source of content ideas. Despite the huge number of users, some questions remain unanswered. This is why finding the right questions is one of the core skills you must master if you want to learn how to use Quora effectively.

You can find these metrics by going to one of the topic pages in your feed, under the “Answer” tab:

As a general rule, try to find questions with a 1: 5 response/user ratio. This means that the post must contain at least five followers and one reply (or zero), which maximizes your chances of getting a lot of votes.

Step 5. Use questions for a full article. The next step is planning and creating top-notch content that answers the question in detail.

Ideally, you should already have a couple of blog posts that are relevant to the topic. If not, use this as an opportunity to write exactly what the Quora user is looking for.

You can write something about marketing strategies for startups with examples, you can create a list of successful startups.

It’s all about providing value not just through knowledge alone, but actionable steps that can position your brand as a source of actionable information that is highly valued.

Step 6. Write like a pro. You just need to focus on the quality of your response, which will help you get more votes, influence, and traffic. Here are the surefire ways to guarantee results:

  • Use visual content. Quora responses with visual content are more likely to grab the audience’s attention. These can be screenshots, infographics, YouTube videos, pictures, and so on.
  • An exhaustive and original answer. Remember, Quora marketing has become competitive thanks to the platform’s growing popularity. If you want to answer a question, make sure that the user does not have any more doubts, questions and no longer has to look for other answers / tips.
  • Use the correct layout. To improve the readability of your answer, subdivide sections into subheadings, and create a bulleted or numbered list for enumerations.
  • Expert opinion using natural language. You never need to compose answers like a full article consisting of several thousand words. Try to use simple, lively language, disclose all terms and concepts, and communicate with users on an emotional level. The text should be understandable to a non-specialist in this field.
  • Be careful with links. While you have the option to insert a link to your landing page, only do so if it makes sense. You don’t want your answer to clearly signal that it is irrelevant and used as an advertising platform? This alarms users. In general, keep an eye on the number of sponsored links.

Well, and the last step is to answer similar questions by placing the same link to your content. As before, choose your questions carefully and write your answers differently each time. Quora does not prohibit links, the service itself even helps them to fit in and design beautifully and organically. The main thing is not to get carried away so that your post does not seem heavy or clearly advertising: limit yourself to 1–2 links. Moreover, if you take 2 links, the first one must lead to your site. Remember that spamming the same response will result in blocking. Experience shows that without losing quality, you can write about 40–50 responses per month — about 2 responses per day. Here’s a quick example of how you can compose answers on Quora:
