USA authorities versus Google and Facebook

The authorities of ten US states have accused Facebook and Google of conspiracy, in the result of which the giants of the IT industry divided the online advertising market among themselves — Texas Attorney General’s Office said.

According to Paxton, Google and Facebook agreed in advance to participate in auctions in which advertising orders were distributed. This gave Google the ability to inflate the price of ads.

The US authorities consider these methods anticompetitive and misleading, which is extremely negative for advertisers’ business and harms consumers.

“Google is a trillion dollar monopoly that brazenly abuses its power to the point of forcing Facebook’s management to agree to a contractual arrangement that undermines competition,” said Ken Paxton.

Google has already commented on this criticism, calling these accusations unfounded. And ready to prove it in court.
